NAF-FULBRIGHT FELLOWSHIP
The Fulbright Fellowship is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Approximately 318,000 “Fulbrighters,” 119,800 from the United States and 197,600 from other countries, have participated in the Program since its inception more than 70 years ago.
The NAF-Fulbright brings scholars from the Netherlands and the United States to exchange in each other’s respective country to pursue opportunities to study, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. This exchange follows in the NAF’s mission of strengthening ties between the two countries.
All applicants must be preparing to study or research at an accredited Dutch or American Institution. Institutions not accredited as higher education will not be considered. After applications have been received and reviewed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Fulbright Center, the NAF Education Committee reviews applications and makes selections for NAF-Fulbright Fellows. Awardees will be notified by IIE and the Fulbright Center once the committee has made a decision.
