Health [E] Foundation

HEALTH[E]FOUNDATION: E-HEALTH AND M-HEALTH SOLUTIONS SUPPORTING A WORLD
WITH QUALITY CARE AND INFORMATION TO ACHIEVE A BETTER HEALTH FOR ALL

Health[e]Foundation was founded in 2003 by Professors Joep Lange and Fransje van der Waals with the mission to efficiently train African healthcare workers working in the HIV/AIDS field. While treatment of HIV antiretroviral therapy was introduced at a large scale in Africa, it was obvious that the local healthcare systems were hardly prepared to cope with the large group of people in need of medication.

Health[e]Foundation adopted the blended training model, a combination of workshops and digital learning, to efficiently reach large groups of participants.

The Anne Frank House develops educational programs and products based on Anne Frank’s life story.

Anne Frank’s life story helps to make the fate of millions of victims of the Holocaust personal and comprehensible. It is a story that begins with prejudice and preconceptions: issues that still lead to anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination, exclusion and persecution in all parts of the world.

‘We cannot change what has happened.

The only thing we can do is to learn

from the past and realize

what discrimination and the persecution

of innocent people mean.’

Otto Frank, 1970

The Anne Frank House does not receive any government subsidies for the museum and is dependent on museum visits for its income. For major initiatives concerning the museum, and for educational projects, the Anne Frank House depends on the support of charitable funds, individual donors and grant-giving bodies such as the European Union and the Dutch government.

Your donation will help us carry out our mission. If you feel strongly about the Anne Frank House, you can support us financially in a number of ways.

In addition to bringing clinical knowledge on infectious diseases from HIV to COVID-19 Health[e]Foundation focuses on and mother and child health programs and informs communities about basic health, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles life skills, and reproductive health and rights. We train community workers, counselors, social workers, and educators with knowledge and skills to enhance outreach activities within their communities.

By offering multiple options to deliver our services, we can tailor each project to the specific needs of the target group and their situation. Our e-learning platform and m-health solutions enable us to scale up our impact and reach (almost) everyone.

Over the years Health[e]Foundation has reached >79.000 participants in 15 countries in 7 languages.

LUCY

Health[e]Foundation offers m-health services to support and inform communities. M-health is a digital technology offering a promising way of caring for people who live in the most hard-to-reach areas by sending information to personal mobile devices.

LUCY started as a free and anonymous SMS and voice messaging service for pregnant women and mothers of newborns who are interested in receiving more information about their pregnancy and how to take care of their baby. Currently, LUCY is also implemented as a smartphone application for (pregnant) women. LUCY is not only empowering clients but also promoting communication with healthcare workers promoting access to basic medical information. LUCY started in Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ethiopian Midwives Association and as an App in Suriname together with Stichting Perisur, and is now available worldwide via the App store.
