ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre (ARQ) has been addressing the psychological wounds of war since 1945. Over time, it has grown into a leading global institute in the field of psychotrauma, driven by a strong commitment to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and prevention for individuals and institutions alike.
Our expertise
ARQ specialises in the treatment, research, and prevention of psychological trauma. We support individuals, communities, and organisations in minimising the impact of war, violence, and other disturbing events. Our work is grounded in the belief that every person, wherever they are in the world, has the right to live with dignity in a safe and stable environment.
Support us in supporting others
Psychosocial support in (post-)conflict areas
We provide mental health and psychosocial support for people affected by war and humanitarian disasters in countries like Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Kenya, Jordan, and Iraq. Help us reach more people affected by war and conflict who urgently need trauma care.
Psychosocial Research of War-Affected Communities
We collaborate with war-affected communities to study the lasting psychological impact of conflict, persecution, and violence. This includes survivors of World War II and the Shoah, as well as military veterans. In our research, we explore topics as moral injury, intergenerational trauma and the lasting effects of perpetrating violence. Support research that honours survivor experiences and saves future lives.
Research into innovative treatments
We pioneer cutting-edge treatments—movement therapy with 3D technology, sensory-based approaches, high-intensity programs like HI-NET, and trauma therapy with MDMA and Ketamine. Support revolutionary mental health breakthroughs.
Inclusive and equitable knowledge exchange
For over two decades, our open access Intervention Journal has been dedicated to making mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) knowledge accessible to all. Committed to inclusive academic publishing, we particularly encourage submissions from the Global South. Fund equal access to mental health knowledge globally.
